About the webinar
We are at a key moment for countries to take action to increase the ambition of their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). According to the Paris Agreement, countries will have until 2020 to reevaluate their climate plans and commit themselves to a level of ambition that will prevent global warming above 1.5 ° C.
One of the challenges facing the Latin American and Caribbean region is to establish clear mechanisms for citizen participation in the development and implementation of climate policies and programs. This webinar will focus on the importance of citizen participation, multisectoral and multilevel to establish low-emission economic processes and resilient to climate change that are sustainable in the long term. The objective of the webinar is to know participatory processes that are working in Latin America, as well as to open a space for an exchange of ideas among countries around the challenges and opportunities that we have in the region to integrate different participants in the review and implementation of the NDCs.

If you have any questions about this event, please contact the LEDS LAC Platform Secretariat: info@ledslac.org.He has worked on climate change issues for over 15 years and specializes in climate policies and national and international institutions. Claudio works part time with the country team of the NDC Partnership and is based in the UNFCCC secretariat in Bonn. In addition to his work with the NDC Partnership, he leads work on NDCs. Previously, Claudio has worked with the World Bank, the Government of Colombia and a number of research centers and universities. He is a Bachelor and Master in environmental management, environmental development and renewable energy.Social communicator and educator, specializing in strategic planning, capacity development and knowledge management for public change and public management projects. He has experience working on climate change planning and management projects with local and international NGOs and was part of the official delegation of Peru at the COP21 in Paris. Alexis has written several articles on processes for the INDC and the NDC of Peru, also for the systematization of projects and actions at the local, regional and national level, besides having been part of the technical team for the elaboration of the gender action plan and climate change in Peru.Civil Engineer, specializing in Hydraulics and Magister in Water Resources Sciences (EPN, 1998). National and international consultant on environmental issues and climate change. He has been a university professor (undergraduate and graduate) in environmental issues and climate change at: San Francisco de Quito University; Polytechnic School of the Army; and Simon Bolivar Andean University.
