IV Regional Workshop: Building bridges for the implementation of low-emission and climate-resilient development strategies

Hotel Meliá Caribe Tropical (Punta Cana, Dominican Republic)
October 12 and 13, 2015
IV Taller regional de LEDS LAC construyendo puentes para la implementación de estrategias de desarrollo bajo en emisiones y resiliente al clima

About the Workshop

The IV Regional Workshop had as its central theme "Building bridges for the implementation of low-emission and climate-resilient development strategies", a focus that applies not only to the link that can be generated between people working on the issue but also on the importance of linking and generating synergies between different sectors, levels of government, actors and approaches when addressing low-carbon development issues. On this occasion, special attention was given to the link between mitigation of GHG emissions and adaptation to climate change and the challenges this presents in the region.

As in past workshops, the discussions sought to build knowledge around "how to" move forward with the implementation of low-emission, climate-resilient development strategies and the mitigation actions associated with these strategies.

The Workshop provided a forum for officials from the Latin American and Caribbean region, international organizations, technical experts and other stakeholders to share experiences and best practices, participate in training, establish collaborative and working links, and find innovative ways to advance the implementation of low-emission development strategies that are also resilient to the impacts of climate change.

The workshop was organized by the National Council for Climate Change and the Clean Development Mechanism of the Dominican Republic and the LEDS LAC Platform, together with CAF Development Bank of Latin America and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). It was supported by the World Bank and the European Union through the EUROCLIMA program.

Participation:

  • 146 participants
  • 33 countries (South America 30%, North America 25%, Central America 19%, Caribbean 14%, Other regions 12%)
  • 40 panelists and exhibitors
  • 24 initiatives in the Marketplace of Ideas
