About the webinar

2019 is the year of climate action. The increase in the ambition of the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) requires significant changes in the development patterns of important sectors in the region, which entails the involvement of all levels of government, and the incorporation of initiatives and actions by different non-state actors.

The signatory countries of the Paris Agreement must demonstrate their real commitment to curb global warming at the next Conference of the Parties (COP25), where Latin America and the Caribbean will take the lead hand in hand with Costa Rica and Chile in the negotiation process. It is the right time for our region to take stock of what we have advanced and where we need to be beyond 2020 to facilitate even greater climate action. In this sense, journalists and communicators have an important role to play in putting the issue on the agenda.

This webinar, organized jointly by the UNFCCC, the LEDS LAC platform, LatinClima and ConexiónCOP will be focused as an interview of Latin American journalists to two leaders of this process, about where we are and what role the different actors in the region play, especially journalists and communicators, to increase climate action towards COP25.

The webinar will be held at Spanish. If you have any questions about this event, please contact the LEDS LAC Platform Secretariat: [email protected].
