About the Webinar<\/strong><\/h2>\n

We are at a key moment for countries to take action towards increasing the ambition of their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). As established by the Paris Agreement, countries will have until 2020 to reassess their climate plans and commit to a level of ambition that avoids global warming above 1.5 \u00b0 C.<\/p>\n

This webinar, co-organized by LEDS LAC and the NDC Partnership, is the second in a series of six webinars focused on reviewing and increasing the ambition of acquired climate commitments. We will discuss country experiences to identify the links between the NDC cycle and the continuous improvement of national MRV systems for greenhouse gas emissions and removals.<\/p>\n

The objective of the webinar is to provide a better understanding of the Katowice Climate Package and the communication and reporting obligations of the Parties under the Paris Agreement. It will also open a space to share information on the modalities, procedures and guidelines for the implementation of the Transparency Framework. We will explore some of the challenges developing countries are facing and learn about Chile’s experience developing its national greenhouse gas inventory. The webinar will be held in Spanish. Her research focuses on effective land use decisions and optimal allocation of land resources for sustainable and efficient development. She was the UNREDD Programme Coordinator at the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (2011-2015) and Senior Officer at the United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change (UNFCCC) supporting Land Use, Land Use Change and Forestry (LULUCF), Agriculture and REDD+ negotiations up to 2011. Before 2007, she was Air Pollution and Atmospheric Chemistry Programme Director at the Center for Environmental Studies of the Mediterranean and Advisor to the Spanish Minister of Environment and member of the Executive Board of the Clean Development Mechanisms of the UNFCCC in 2006-07. She was a lead author of the GHGs Inventory Guidelines and the Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change and was part of the group granted the Nobel Peace Prize in 2008 for her contributions to the Panel. She belongs to the Roster of Experts of the UNFCCC. Her expertise is in public policies for GHG emissions reductions, prospective analysis of emissions scenarios and MRV for mitigation actions, among others. She graduated from the University of Santiago in 2006, where she studied Geographical Civil Engineering. From 2007 to 2010 she worked on atmospheric pollution issues on the National Environmental Commission (CONAMA). Since 2010, she has been part of the Climate Change team at the MMA.
