These strategies will play an important role in guiding countries towards the global temperature goals of limiting warming to 1.5-2°C above pre-industrial levels, and provide the necessary direction to inform the enhancement of nationally determined contributions (NDCs).

As countries develop their revised NDCs, aligning short-term NDC goals with long-term planning instruments will allow them to avoid short-term investments and decisions that may lock them into undesirable pathways (WRI 2017). This webinar will focus specifically on the benefits of aligning short-term and long-term planning and the specific ways in which partners and member countries have addressed this issue. The webinar will be in. Spanish. If you have any questions or queries, please write to the LEDS LAC Platform at info@ledslac.org.

About the panelists

Juan Carlos Altamirano

Juan Carlos is a Senior Economist in the Economics and Climate Program Center at WRI.
