About the webinar<\/span><\/h2>\n

Latin America and the Caribbean is the second most urbanized region in the world with 8 out of 10 people living in cities. With their high concentration levels of population, industries and infrastructure, cities generate almost three quarters of the global greenhouse gas emissions are among the areas that will suffer the most from climate change. However, they also offer many opportunities to develop strategies that contribute at the same time to deal with climate change and improve the quality of life for city dwellers.<\/p>\n

In Latin America there are important initiatives that promote the transformation of the urban environment with a climate compatible development model. This webinar will discuss the experiences of ICLEI\u00b4s Urban LEDS Program and the Interamerican Development Bank\u00b4s Emerging and Sustainable Cities Initiative, both of which are supporting local processes and facilitating learning through regional exchange.<\/p>\n
