About the webinar

The participation of the private sector in the design and implementation of resilient and low emission development strategies has been one of the thematic priorities of LEDS LAC from its inception. At the end of 2017, the climate governance component of the EUROCLIMA+ Program carried out a reflection process with its partner countries to focus cooperation efforts, with emphasis on the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC). Among the identified challenges, those related to this same topic stand out, among them the creation of dialogue spaces between the private and public sectors for the analysis and shared design of policies and instruments with the sectors.

Taking into account this challenge and the coincidence in terms of priorities, EUROCLIMA+ through GIZ as one of the implementing agencies of the Climate Governance Component, is collaborating with the LEDS LAC Secretariat and the CLACDS of INCAE Business School, in the facilitation of a Community of Practice, in which representatives of government, private sector, and other actors of 9 Latin American countries participate to exchange experiences and strengthen capacities on the creation of mechanisms to articulate the participation of the private sector in the formulation and implementation of climate policies.

This webinar will present the results of the kick-off workshop of the Community of Practice, held in Chile at the end of July, as well as Chile’s experience in the use of public private agreements for the implementation of its climate policy instruments, and the perspective of AED on the importance and challenges associated with the creation of spaces for dialogue and collaboration between the government and the private sector throughout the process of formulating and executing climate policies.

The webinar will be held in Spanish. If you have any questions about this event, please contact the LEDS LAC Platform Secretariat: info@ledslac.org
